Corflute vs Cardboard: What’s the Difference?

At first glance, corflute and cardboard can look similar. Both are lightweight, flat materials often used for signs and displays. The difference becomes obvious once they’re actually used.

Cardboard is designed for packaging. It absorbs moisture, creases easily, and loses strength quickly when handled. That makes it fine for boxes, but not ideal for products that need to be held, displayed, reused, or photographed.

Corflute, on the other hand, is a fluted polypropylene material designed specifically for signage and display use. It’s water resistant, far more durable, and holds its shape even after repeated handling. That’s why corflute is widely used for real estate signs, event signage, and promotional displays.

Print quality is another key difference. Corflute produces cleaner edges, better colour consistency, and sharper detail compared to cardboard. It’s also much better suited to outdoor use or environments where spills, weather, or heavy handling are likely.

If a product is meant to last beyond a single use, corflute is almost always the better choice. It costs more than cardboard, but the difference shows immediately — in strength, finish, and longevity.
